1What should you do before you show up for your exam?

• You must take your valid Instruction permit or driver license from another country with you if you want any types of warm-up before the test.
• Better to show up 5 minutes early for the paperwork before the test.

2What is the refund policy?

• You can get a refund if you cancel more than 24 hours before your appointment.
• No-shows will not receive a refund.

3Who is eligible to take the driving exam?

• You must have passed the WA State knowledge test within the past two years. We accept a passing knowledge test from anywhere.
• Check the date on your knowledge test. If it is more than two years old, it has expired. We cannot test you that day and there is no refund, so retake it before your appointment.
• You must be at least 18 years old.
• If you are under the age of 18, you must have first completed a driver's ed program.
• If you need a car with an ignition interlock device (IID), tell us ahead of time and bring your own car. Ours do not have one.

4What can I expect for the test?

• 20-30 minutes of driving.
• No freeway driving.
• We provide the test car and the insurance. You do not need your own car, and you do not need your own insurance.
• If you take the test in your own vehicle, be prepared to show proof of insurance, make sure your tabs are current, and make sure all of your lights work.
• 80% or more is a PASS.
• Instructions are available in English, Chinese, Spanish, Russian and French.

5What exactly does the examiner score?

The test measures whether you avoid mistakes, not whether you drive beautifully. Points come off for specific things, and 80% or more is a pass.

• The set manoeuvres. Backing around a corner to the right, parallel parking (park assist must be off), parking on a hill as if you were leaving the car there, a brake-reaction stop, and arm signals.
• Everything else, continuously. Starting the car and pulling away from the curb, lane choice and signalling, following distance, a head check before every lane change, signs and signals, scanning blind and busy intersections, right of way, smooth stopping, and judging distance from other cars and pedestrians.
• Scoring runs from the moment you start the car until you park at the end — not only during the named manoeuvres.

6What can I practise on my own before the test?

These are the scored behaviours that are easiest to fix by yourself, and the ones people most often do differently in everyday driving than the test expects.

• Stop completely behind the line. A slow roll still counts as not stopping.
• Do a head check over your shoulder before every lane change and before leaving the curb. Mirrors alone are not enough.
• Hold the speed limit. Driving well under the limit is scored too.
• Signal early enough to be useful, and make sure it cancels afterwards.
• Scan left–right–left at every intersection, including on a green light.
• Hill parking — the one most people get backwards. Facing downhill, turn the wheels toward the curb. Facing uphill with a curb, turn the wheels away from the curb and let the car roll back to touch it. On a hill with no curb, turn the wheels toward the shoulder either way. Then set the parking brake.

7I have been driving for years. Do I still need practice?

Often, yes — and not because of your driving. Parallel parking and hill parking are rarely done in daily life the way the test wants them, and a head check before every lane change is a habit most experienced drivers have quietly dropped.

• Driven for years, but never taken a US road test → Refresher Course
• New to driving here, or you hold a licence from another country → a 60-minute private lesson
• You just want to run the manoeuvres once, right before the test → 40-minute warm-up + test or 1-hour warm-up + test
• A warm-up runs on the same roads the test uses, so nothing on test day is new to you.

8Can I take the test in my own car? What does it need?

You do not need to. Our car is included, insured, and already meets every requirement below. If you would rather use your own, it has to pass a safety check before the test starts.

• Brake lights, including the centre one · turn signals · parking brake · wipers, headlights and defroster if the weather needs them
• Seat belts that lock and unlock · a passenger door that opens from inside and outside · a driver window that rolls down, because arm signals are tested
• Current licence plate and tabs · a windscreen with no cracks in your line of sight and nothing hanging that blocks the view
• Mirrors: outside left plus inside rear-view, or outside left plus outside right
• Proof of current liability insurance
• If any required item does not work, the test cannot go ahead that day.

9I passed — when can I go to the DOL?

• We send your result to the DOL electronically within 24 hours. We cannot make that faster.
• Your score will not show up in your License Express account. That is normal — it does not mean you failed.
• So book your DOL appointment for the day after your test, not the same day. If you get there before the result lands, the office has nothing to work with.
• We cannot print or hand you a license. Your temporary driver license is issued by the DOL office — online or in person.
• Same-day DOL appointments are released every morning at 8:20 a.m., so check then if nothing is showing — here are the steps.
• Your road test result stays valid for one year, so there is no rush if every office is booked out this week.

5考官到底看哪些项目？

• 从你启动车子到最后停好，全程都在评分——不是只有做规定动作那几分钟。

6考试前我自己可以练什么？

下面这几条最容易自己纠正，也是日常开车的习惯和考试要求差得最远的地方。

• 停车线前必须完全停住。慢慢滑过去，在评分上等于没停。
• 每次变道、每次离开路边，都要回头看盲区。只看后视镜不够。
• 按限速开。明显低于限速一样会被扣分。
• 打灯要提前到对别人有用，转完确认灯已经回位。
• 每个路口都要左—右—左扫一遍，绿灯也要。
• 坡道停车——最多人记反的一条。车头朝下坡：方向盘打向路缘。车头朝上坡且有路缘：方向盘打离路缘，再让车缓缓后溜，让轮胎抵住路缘。坡上没有路缘：不论朝上朝下，方向盘一律打向路肩。最后拉起手刹。

7我已经开了很多年车，还需要练吗？

多半需要，而且不是因为你开得不好。平行停车和坡道停车，日常几乎没人按考试的要求做；而「每次变道前回头看」这个动作，开久了的人往往早就省掉了。

• 刹车灯（含第三刹车灯）· 转向灯 · 手刹 · 天气需要时的雨刮、大灯、除雾
• 安全带能正常扣紧解开 · 副驾车门内外都能开 · 驾驶侧车窗能摇下来（要考手势信号）
• 车牌和年检贴纸在有效期内 · 挡风玻璃视线范围内无裂痕、无遮挡物
• 后视镜：左外 + 车内，或左外 + 右外
• 有效的责任险证明
• 任何一项不合格，当天就无法开考。

9考过了，什么时候能去 DOL？

• 我们会在 24 小时内把成绩电子上传给 DOL。这个速度我们没法加快。
• 成绩不会出现在你的 License Express 账户里。这是正常的，不代表你没过。
• 所以 DOL 的预约请约在考试第二天，不要约当天。成绩还没到，柜台那边什么都办不了。
• 驾照不是驾校发的，我们也打印不了。临时驾照由 DOL 办公室发放（线上或线下都可以）。

1¿Qué debe hacer antes de presentarse al examen?

• Si quiere un calentamiento antes del examen, debe traer su permiso de aprendizaje (Instruction Permit) vigente o su licencia de conducir de otro país.
• Llegue 5 minutos antes para completar el papeleo previo al examen.

2¿Cuál es la política de reembolso?

• Le reembolsamos si cancela con más de 24 horas de anticipación.
• Si no se presenta, no hay reembolso.

3¿Quién puede presentar el examen de manejo?

• Debe haber aprobado el examen teórico del estado de Washington en los últimos dos años. Aceptamos el examen teórico aprobado en cualquier lugar.
• Revise la fecha de su examen teórico. Si tiene más de dos años, ya venció: ese día no podremos tomarle el examen y no hay reembolso, así que vuelva a aprobarlo antes de su cita.
• Debe tener al menos 18 años.
• Si es menor de 18 años, primero debe haber completado un curso de manejo (driver's ed).
• Si necesita un auto con dispositivo de bloqueo de encendido (IID), avísenos con anticipación y traiga el suyo. Los nuestros no lo tienen.

4¿Cómo es el examen?

• 20-30 minutos de manejo.
• No se maneja en autopista.
• Nosotros ponemos el auto del examen y el seguro. No necesitas tu propio auto ni tu propio seguro.
• Si hace el examen en su propio vehículo, traiga el comprobante de seguro, verifique que las calcomanías (tabs) estén vigentes y que todas las luces funcionen.
• 80 % o más es APROBADO.
• Las indicaciones están disponibles en inglés, chino, español, ruso y francés.

5¿Qué califica exactamente el examinador?

El examen mide si evitas errores, no si conduces con elegancia. Los puntos se restan por cosas concretas, y se aprueba con 80% o más.

• Las maniobras. Retroceder doblando una esquina a la derecha, estacionarse en paralelo (con la asistencia de estacionamiento apagada), estacionar en pendiente como si fueras a dejar el auto allí, una frenada de reacción y las señales con el brazo.
• Todo lo demás, de forma continua. Arrancar y salir de la acera, elección de carril y uso de direccionales, distancia de seguimiento, mirada por encima del hombro antes de cada cambio de carril, señales y letreros, cruces con visibilidad reducida o mucho tráfico, derecho de paso, frenadas suaves y el cálculo de distancias con otros autos y peatones.
• Te califican desde que arrancas hasta que estacionas al final, no solo durante las maniobras.

6¿Qué puedo practicar por mi cuenta antes del examen?

Estos son los puntos más fáciles de corregir solo, y donde más se aleja la costumbre diaria de lo que pide el examen.

• Detente por completo antes de la línea. Frenar despacio sin llegar a parar cuenta como no haberte detenido.
• Mira por encima del hombro antes de cada cambio de carril y antes de salir de la acera. Los espejos solos no bastan.
• Respeta el límite de velocidad. Ir muy por debajo también resta puntos.
• Señaliza con antelación suficiente y comprueba que la direccional se apague después.
• Mira izquierda–derecha–izquierda en cada cruce, también con luz verde.
• Estacionar en pendiente: lo que más gente confunde. Cuesta abajo, gira las ruedas hacia la acera. Cuesta arriba con acera, gíralas hacia afuera y deja que el auto retroceda hasta tocarla. En pendiente sin acera, gíralas hacia el arcén en ambos casos. Después pon el freno de mano.

7Llevo años manejando. ¿Aun así necesito practicar?

Casi siempre sí, y no por cómo manejas. El estacionamiento en paralelo y en pendiente casi nunca se hacen en el día a día como los pide el examen, y mirar por encima del hombro antes de cada cambio de carril es un hábito que la mayoría de conductores con experiencia ha dejado de hacer.

• Llevas años manejando pero nunca hiciste el examen aquí → Refresher Course
• Empiezas a manejar aquí o tienes licencia de otro país → una clase privada de 60 minutos
• Solo quieres repasar las maniobras justo antes → calentamiento de 40 min + examen o 1 hora de calentamiento + examen
• El calentamiento se hace en las mismas calles del examen, así que el día del examen nada te resulta nuevo.

8¿Puedo hacer el examen en mi propio auto? ¿Qué debe cumplir?

No hace falta. Nuestro auto está incluido, asegurado y ya cumple todo lo de abajo. Si prefieres el tuyo, tiene que pasar una revisión de seguridad antes de empezar.

• Luces de freno, incluida la central · direccionales · freno de mano · limpiaparabrisas, luces y desempañador si el clima lo exige
• Cinturones que abrochan y desabrochan · puerta del pasajero que abre por dentro y por fuera · ventanilla del conductor que baja, porque se evalúan las señales con el brazo
• Placa y calcomanías vigentes · parabrisas sin grietas en tu campo de visión ni objetos que estorben
• Espejos: exterior izquierdo más retrovisor interior, o exterior izquierdo más exterior derecho
• Comprobante de seguro de responsabilidad civil vigente
• Si algo obligatorio no funciona, ese día no se puede hacer el examen.

9Aprobé: ¿cuándo puedo ir al DOL?

• Enviamos tu resultado al DOL por vía electrónica en menos de 24 horas. No podemos acelerarlo.
• Tu nota no aparecerá en tu cuenta de License Express. Es normal y no significa que hayas reprobado.
• Por eso pide tu cita en el DOL para el día siguiente al examen, no el mismo día: sin el resultado, la oficina no puede hacer nada.
• No podemos imprimirte ni entregarte una licencia. La licencia provisional la emite la oficina del DOL, en línea o en persona.
• Las citas del mismo día en el DOL se liberan cada mañana a las 8:20; vuelve a mirar a esa hora si no ves nada — aquí están los pasos.
• Tu resultado sigue siendo válido un año, así que no hay prisa si esta semana está todo lleno.
